Phil Fortunato has been in the erosion control industry
for over 30 years and was the first private individual to be approved by the
Washington State Department of Ecology as a Certified Erosion & Sediment
Control Lead (CESCL) instructor in 2002. Since then he has train over 3000
contractors and local jurisdictions in stormwater permit compliance.
Phil founded the
Pacific Northwest
Chapter of the International Erosion Control Association and was it’s first
President.
With
his previous company Briargreen, Phil participated in WSDOT /
Univ.
of
Washington Erosion Studies
and has conducted seminars on Hydroseeding Specifications to over 400
architects, engineers and governmental agencies.
His Specification Guide is cited in the
King
County
and the State of
Washington Drainage Manuals.
Phil’s seed mixes for bio-filtration swales and wetland
revegitation have been accepted as standards in
King
County.
Phil also served in the Washington State
House of Representatives
on the Transportation, Local Government and, Agriculture and Ecology
Committees. The Local
Government committee covered the Growth Management Act, Shoreline Management
Act, and implementation of the Endangered Species Act Salmon rules.
The Agriculture and Ecology Committees covered water quality for the
Endangered Species Act Salmon rules. |
