Frequently Asked Questions

Can I do grading in the winter?

In most instances grading is allowed in the winter with enhanced grading plan notes and erosion control methods from October 1 through March 31. In some instances grading may not be allowed per Title 17.05.145(3) whereas significant erosion and discharge to critical areas is probable.  Please refer to policies POL-3044 and PRO-3044 for the appropriate steps to be taken to evaluate whether or not winter grading is feasible.

It is best to discuss the issues first with the assigned drainage plans examiner prior to preparing a winter erosion control plan.

When can I submit for early grading?

Construction plans for early grading can be submitted to the permit coordinator only after first construction plan review has been completed. Early grading plans are for grading and erosion control only and should not contain such items as road surfacing, sidewalks, catch basins, ect.
